AIPA statement on QF141

The Australian and International Pilots Association has commended the crew on board QF141 after a safe landing in Auckland following a warning of a fire in the cargo hold.

“The pilots acted swiftly and professionally by making a mayday call and landing the flight safely and quickly,” said AIPA President Captain Andrew Marshall.

“These types of incidents happen very rarely but Qantas pilots are very well trained to manage them safely when they do.

“This incident reinforces the critical importance of having two well-trained and well-rested pilots on the flight deck at all times, which continues to be the most essential safety feature in aviation.”
